Termez State University encourages students, staff and visitors to use public transport and other sustainable travel options when coming to campus. The main campus can be reached by Bus Route No. 3. Passengers should get off at the “Barkamol Avlod” bus stop, which is about 120–180 metres from the university and only a two- or three-minute walk away.
Route taxis travelling toward the city centre also provide convenient access. Passengers can get off near Barkamol Avlod Street or Alisher Navoiy Street and continue to the campus on foot. Safe pedestrian paths are available around the university.
Cycling and electric scooters are recommended for short-distance and last-mile travel. Bicycle parking, scooter parking, electric-vehicle spaces and charging stations are available in designated campus areas. Similar transport connections serve the North Campus, West Campus, Rectorate and Darband Training and Practice Base.
Every Tuesday and Friday, the university observes Car-Free Day from 07:00 to 19:00. Private cars are not allowed to enter during these hours, except emergency, operational and authorised vehicles for people with disabilities.
Using public transport helps reduce emissions, traffic congestion and noise while supporting a cleaner, safer and healthier university environment overall.
In support of its Green Campus strategy, the University actively encourages members of the campus community to reduce the use of private motor vehicles and instead choose environmentally friendly transportation options. Sustainable mobility is further promoted through:
· the use of public buses and shared route taxi services;
· safe pedestrian walkways connecting nearby transport stops with university buildings;
· bicycle-friendly infrastructure and dedicated bicycle parking facilities;
· promotion of electric scooters and electric vehicles for short-distance travel;
· implementation of Car-Free Day every Tuesday and Friday (07:00–19:00), during which private cars and motorcycles are restricted from entering the campus.
These initiatives form TerSU’s Integrated Sustainable Mobility Network, designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, minimize traffic congestion, and create a safer, healthier, and more accessible campus environment.
The University continuously evaluates the effectiveness of these initiatives through the Campus Entrance Vehicle Monitoring Program, annual transportation assessments, and sustainable mobility reports. The results are used to further enhance transportation planning and strengthen the University’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Public Transportation Accessibility Map and related transportation policies support the implementation of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings methodology and demonstrate TerSU’s commitment to sustainable campus mobility.
