Safe, Accessible and Sustainable Walking Network at Termez State University
Termez State University has developed the Smart Pedestrian Mobility Map as part of its Green Campus Strategy to create a safe, accessible, and people-oriented campus where walking is encouraged as the primary mode of transportation for short-distance travel. The map supports the implementation of the University's Pedestrian Path Policy, Sustainable Transportation Policy, Campus Master Plan, and Green Mobility Program.
The Smart Pedestrian Mobility Map provides students, academic staff, administrative personnel, visitors, and external stakeholders with comprehensive information about the University's pedestrian infrastructure. It helps users navigate safely across the campus while promoting environmentally friendly mobility and reducing dependence on private motor vehicles.
An Integrated Pedestrian Network
Termez State University has established an integrated pedestrian network connecting academic buildings, administrative offices, libraries, laboratories, sports facilities, student service centers, green areas, parking facilities, and public transportation access points.
The University's pedestrian infrastructure currently includes approximately 4.5 kilometres of interconnected pedestrian walkways, creating a continuous walking network throughout the Main Campus. The pathways are designed to ensure direct and convenient access between all major campus destinations while supporting safe pedestrian movement.
Many of the pedestrian routes have been upgraded using natural granite paving, improving durability, safety, and walking comfort. Accessible ramps and barrier-free pathways have also been incorporated to improve mobility for persons with disabilities and other campus users requiring inclusive access.

The map identifies:
- dedicated pedestrian pathways;
- approximately 4.5 km of interconnected walkways;
- pedestrian priority zones;
- zebra crossings;
- accessible pedestrian routes;
- shaded pedestrian corridors;
- campus entrances;
- public bus stops;
- route taxi stops;
- bicycle parking areas;
- electric scooter parking areas;
- pedestrian connections to academic buildings;
- Car-Free Day restricted areas;
- green spaces and recreational areas.
The map is reviewed and updated periodically by the Department of Facilities and Campus Infrastructure to reflect ongoing improvements in campus mobility.
Pedestrian Infrastructure
Termez State University continuously invests in pedestrian infrastructure to improve campus accessibility and walking conditions. The University has developed safe sidewalks, shaded pedestrian corridors, accessible ramps, clearly marked crossings, campus directional signage, and traffic-calming measures that minimize conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles.
Pedestrian routes are integrated with bicycle facilities, public transportation stops, parking areas, and zero-emission mobility infrastructure, enabling users to move conveniently across the campus without relying on private cars.

Continuous Monitoring and Improvement
The University's pedestrian infrastructure is regularly inspected and maintained by the Department of Facilities and Campus Infrastructure. Annual assessments evaluate walkway conditions, accessibility, pavement quality, pedestrian safety, directional signage, and overall connectivity between campus facilities.
The results of these assessments are used to support future infrastructure improvements and are incorporated into the University's Green Campus planning and sustainability reporting.
